The Norwood Fire Department staffs two ambulances (NA3, NA1) 24/7 and maintains a third ambulance (NA2) as a backup. NA-3 is staffed by two firefighter/paramedics and is equipped to operate at the advanced life support (ALS) level. It is usually dispatched to calls involving serious trauma such as motor vehicle rollovers, burns, stabbings and medical calls requiring ALS interventions such as cardiac arrest, diabetic problems and childbirth. In addition to the medical equipment carried on board, NA-1 also carries SCBA and protective fire gear. NA-1 is staffed by two firefighter/EMTs and is equipped to operate at the basic life support level. NA-2 is usually dispatched on reports of motor vehicle accidents, falls, back pain, sports injuries, etc. NA-1 carries equipment for cardiac defibrillation and like NA-3, carries SCBA and fire protective gear. NA-2 is also dispatched on all reports of possible structure fires. NA1 Drug Box Some of the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) medications carried by Norwood Ambulance 1 Lifepak 12 The Lifepak 12 Cardiac Monitor carried on NA1 can defibrillate, perform synchronized cardioversion, transcutaneous pacing, routine electrocardiograms as well as diagnostic 12 lead electrocardiograms. The lifepak 12 is also equipped with pulseoximetery, non-invasive blood pressure monitoring and capnography/ end tidal CO2 monitoring.
