The promotional exams are open, competitive 80 question exams based on the firefighting books: Fire Company Officer, Fire Inspection & Code Enforcement, First Responder(Medical), Haz Mat for First Responders, National Incident Management System, Mass. Gen. Laws Chapter 148, Pumping Apparatus/Driver Handbook, Bldg. Construction Related to the Fire Service, Engine Company Operations, Ladder Company Operations, Collapse of Burning Buildings and Supervision Today.

Passing the exam is the first step in the promotional process, the next step is waiting for a Lieutenant and Captain vacancy to open up.

The individuals with the highest scores are then promoted by Chief Greeley.

Captain Henry is a 30 year veteran of the Norwood Fire Department. He grew up in Norwood, graduated from Norwood High and raised his family in town. Captain Henry holds a Bachelor's Degree from Salem State College.

Lt. Bent came to Norwood Fire via the Norfolk Fire Department. He has been on the department for 6 years with a total of 9 years in the fire service. He lives in Norwood with his wife and holds a Bachelors Degree from Boston University.

Lt. Morrice has been a member of the Norwood Fire Department for 23 years. He grew up in Norwood and graduated from Norwood High School. He lives in Mendon with his wife and four children and has a Bachelors Degree from UMASS Amherst.
